Florida Has some of the hardest water in the nation. Hard water leads to calcium and lime scale, as well soap scum and bacteria growth.
Our region also uses very high levels of Chlorine and Chloramines to treat the water. A lot of times when tested we find that there is twice as much chlorine in your tap water than you would want in your swimming pool. While these agents are effective at limiting bacteria in our water, they are carcinogens and should not be used for drinking.
There are many other contaminants in our region as well. They range from sewage, to bacteria, to iron and other heavy metals. South Florida Water recommends that you have your water tested at least once a year.
